The 94 non vented opti setup is pretty much the only obstacle, the cam will not drive the vented 95 opti, nor will the 94 opti plug in to the 95 harness. If you have both motors, the parts to make it happen can all be swapped over however

Would that be a 95 Camaro with a V6 or an LT1 V8?

I noticed the water pump was different also. Can I swap that also? I think the 94 came out of a vette

You would have to swap the cam and timing cover as well as the cam has no provision to drive the pin style opti, and you need a vented style cover for the later opti. Seeing as to how it came out of a vette, you may as well swap everything, all accessory brackets....an since you will need to pull the intake for the cam swap anyway, you may as well swap intakes, as the vette fuel rail feeds in from the opposite side. Oil pan may be different too....You certainly may have a ton of work ahead of you, but aside from seals and gaskets, as long as both motors are complete, you should already have all the major stuff you need. I converted a 94 Z motor to work in a 95, but in hindsight it would probably have been alot less labor intensive to try to grab the correct motor from a junkyard, which you can still always do

Ahhhh, see this is where I get thrown off.....anyone know?....if it IS a '94 vette motor it may have the vented opti...not positive, but the vette motor may have gotten the vented opti in '94. (something is telling me yes) if that's the case, that would make it quite a bit easier, you could skip the whole cam job, perhaps just swapping over the fuel rails and accessories Hopefully someone who knows for certain can confirm, I've been out of the Corvette game since the L98...

IIRC, 94-96 used the same Opti. 1993 used a different Opti drive, like a spline drive. On mine I've got a mix and match of 94 and 95 pieces.

And by changing the cap you can make a non-vented, vented.

Re: engine swap PLEASE HELP

93 and 94 F-Body LT1's had the unvented Opti with the spline drive. 95-97 are vented/dowel pin drive. My Probst Corvette Fuel Injection manual indicates it's the same break point for the Corvette... 95/96 are vented.

In addition to the different drive configuration, the vented Opti also requires a different (longer) harness connector. That's just a matter of replacing the short harness that runs from the gray 4-pin connector on the bracket on the passenger side of the intake manifold to the Opti. And the vent/vacuum line harness is required.

Someone mentioned changing the intake manifold because of the different location of the fuel line connections on the Corvette. Only the rails need to be changed. The intake manfolds are identical.

Re: engine swap PLEASE HELP

1994 Corvette opti is spline. It is not a vented opti
