Engine removal thru-bottom pics

About five hours of time including breaks. Did the all the disassemble myself and my brother helped with the lift part. All in all it was very fun and dirty I might do a little how-to write up on this

Re: Engine removal thru-bottom pics

I also used a cherry picker to pick up the front of my T/A when I pulled the engine. Works out great. I put a dolly under the engine and after I raise the body, I just roll out the engine and trans. Takes me about 2 hours to unhook the components and get the engine out. I have done both and it is so much easier to work on the engine/Trans out of the car then trying to bolt up all the crap under the damn cowl in the car. Not to mention the cramps in the back and legs from being bent over the fender.

Do you have more pictures? I would be interested in reading anybody's write-up on something like this. Tips, pointers, and learning from mistakes (better when its not my mistakes) is what it's all about. I like the idea of pulling everything out the bottom alot.

I did it like that too, twice in the span of 1 week. It's very easy. Only thing diff I did was use a chain fall hooked to our garage (custom built garage) to lift the car so i could pull the engine straight out the front without moving a cherry picker or tryin to use a lot of wood on the jack. Took about a day the first time cuz i labled everything and was going real slow.

There are at least two write-ups out there already. I don't have links, but a search should find them.

I jacked the body off of mine and rolled out with the wheels on.

It was a fun experience. I did not have a list of things to removed, so it took a while to find what needed to be removed/disconnected. Ill post an LS1 edition in a few weeks
