Engine cranked, but wouldn't start
Engine cranked, but wouldn't start
Thought I'd share my experiences with you all. I went out to move my 1996 Camaro and it wouldn't start. It would turn over, and it wanted to run, but it just wouldn't. My son-in-law came over, he's a ASE mechanic, and told me that the fuel pump was dead. I ordered a new fuel pump and was going to install it last weekend. I hooked up my battery trickle charger, and left it on for 24 hours, caused the battery had been in there for quite a while. I decided to see if the car would turn over and the beast started right up. Turned out that the battery had the juice to crank the car over, but not the juice to fire the computer. New battery, and the ol girl is starting up just fine, and running well. Beat having to drop the tank. My 2 cents.
Re: Engine cranked, but wouldn't start
I was guessing your battery, just from reading the title of your thread. It happens so much, I can't believe more don't check that first. I would not drop anything, but do the trap door method when your pump does need replacing. I doubt the pcm needed more juice, it probably just couldn't turn the motor over fast enough to get it to fire.
