Deleting the cats won't effect the PCM, but it will throw a code. You need to have the rear o2 sensors deleted from the tune. These sensors just say hey the cats aren't working, the pcm doesn't use them to figure out fuel/spark or anything like that.

As long as you dont mind your check engine light being on ALL THE TIME like mine is then just remove the cats, I still have my 02s plugged into my LTs.

No one can accurately answer your quesion without knowing the year of your car (which determines whether it is OBD-I or OBD-II, how many cats it has, and how many O2 sensors it has). You also have to tell us if you are asking about the pre-cat or the after-cat O2 sensors, or possibly all of them.

You need to add a "signature" with basic info about your car, including year, model, engine, tranny and any major mods. That helps people provide you with accurate answers.

in regards to the use of 02 sensors, obd 2 uses additional sensors placed after the catalytic converters to determine the efficiency of the cats. it is something that can be tuned out of the pcm, if you like.

Exactly.

93-95 OBD-I has only one cat. Has no after-cat O2 sensors, and no OBD diagnostic for cat performance (one exception is the 95 CA emissions A4's, which have dual cats, but are still OBD-I and no after-cat sensors). 96/97 OBD-II has dual cats, running in parallel, and a sensor after each cat to monitor activity, and an OBD diagnistic routine to determine the O2 storage level of the cats.

Many questions regarding the LT1's are difficult to answer without knowing the year of the car. There are numerous, significant differences from year-to-year.

Then it would be a "CA Emissions" car. Check the build code tag for RPO "YF5".
