Exclamation eletrical problem

im having some kind of electrical problem could someone please help me? my lights are all screwed up sometimes all of them are on and when i turn on my lights and fog lights only one fog light and one headlight will come on. when i turn the foglight switch off both foglights come on and just which one of the headlights that wants to. once i turn the lights and car off they stay kinda dim and eventually go out. my water pump stays on after i turn the car off and it must be turning on n off when the car is running cause it runs hot from time to time. anybody have any idea what it could be?

Re: eletrical problem

Can you give us a history of when the problem occured like after something was done? Can you also tell us what circuit you put the water pump on? Also a more precise description of what is happening with the lights and when would be helpful. Like when exterior lights are off, such and such happens, anywhere in the vehicle and when you turn the lights on, such and such happens and include everything happening everywhere.

We can then do the best we can to help you.

all i did was change the oil and adjust the valves. the car was fine before the head n cam swap but it had sat up for a year. but this just recently started happening. i have the water pump on a relay and its wired to the lil red box on the passenger side and the ignition fuse. the car cranks n stuff fine. when i turn the lights is when things get crazy. inside lights and stuff are ok its just the head lights and the left signal. if i just turn it on it blinks fine but when i turn the headlights on the arrow on the dash stays lit on the left side but its dim. when that is lit up it wont blink at all when you turn it on. my head and foglights do different stuff. like the left bright light will be on and the right low beam. sometimes both will be on on the right side and none on the left. but usually the ones that arent supposed to be on are really dim. only one fog light will come on if you have the headlights on. if you turn on just the park lights both will come on. sometimes when you turn the lights off all together they will stay on for a while but just barely burning(not even enough to see them unless you are directly in front of the car) but if i unhook my water pump from the lil red box they will go right out. after it ran hot i havent driven it cause i donno if the pump was turning on and off or something or if the fans werent kicking on or what the case may be

Re: eletrical problem

Sounds like your signal relay is bad. I would check them all.

Re: eletrical problem

I would check grounds for starters, you could have a loose or corroded ground wire to the body, check the one on the drivers side rad support up top for starters. Then play with your light switch , move it around slowly and see what kind of results you get.

If you remove the plate under the steering colum on the right side was one. It's a round little cylinder. I think thats for the signal's . I don't remember where the one for the hazards is. The grounds you have for the battary to the body right by that red box. Clean those off and check for the frame to the motor. and under the dash when yur under looking for the signal relays.
