i advise against, for reasons shoebox stated. sure the A4 tranny can handle a lot of abuse (well...hehe), but everyone i've ever known who used the B&M regretted it, esp. 15-30k down the road. Saving $70 could cost you $1500, is that worth it???

Not sure what you mean. One is labeled + going to the LED and another is labeled - to ground for the switch.

so they are both the same kinda wire (12v) just one is going to the negative (i.e. cigartte lighter) and the other to a positive source (i.e. fuse box)?

Do the Trans Am's have a performance feature in the tranny? Anybody know?

You are making this way too hard.

Follow the very simple diagram. Use the black ground wire on the lighter for the ground and wire the 12v to ignition fed power at the fuse panel. (you actually can use the red wire to the lighter as the 12v, because even though that wire is powered all the time, the LED will not light unless the pcm sends a ground to it. That can only happen when the key is ON)

Not sure what you mean about "same kinda wire", but physically the wires are the same type.

OBD-II pcms (96-97) do not have this built into them. It is only present on the 94-95s. 93s did not have it because they did not have electronically controlled transmissions.

My 2 cents.
Put the shift kit in it and be done.
I love my Trans Go shift kit.

You don't have to buy any GM part. Just get a momentary button and an LED-a few bucks.
