Question Electronic B&M shift kit just as good as a real shift kit?

Scroll halfway down.

I see B&M sells these little shift kits that just plug into your computer. Are they good or am I better off having a shift kit installed into the transmission?

Thanks,

Chris

honestly thats what im trying to figure out right now. theres supposed to be some hidden shift kit in 94-95 z28s, but the way it worksd sounds extremely close to the way this B&M shiftplus thing works. ive heard that the B&M thing will F*** up your tranny, everyone who has used it will testify, do a search there should be tons of info on it.

I used to have it on my car. after awhile of use, my car would bounce off the rev limiter on the 1-2 shift. Took it off, got some programming, and all is well

I bought my car from a guy that had one on it. My car is now doing the same thing as NOMAD's did even though I never use it. Wanna buy mine?

Not as good as a regular shift kit and has the potential to cause tranny troubles if abused or if your tranny is weak. I would recommend avoiding the ShiftPlus.

What do you mean it bounces off of the rev limiter? Is it shifting before it reaches the engines rev limit?

Guys I was wondering, I heard in 94 to 95 models there is a hidden shift kit feature built into the car's computer. I was wondering if I went to a dealer and had it switched on would that be all I need?

A dealer is probably going to look at you like you have sprouted a third eye.

A few bucks for a momentary switch, an LED, a few feet of wire and a little of your time is all you need.

If I'm not mistaken, the TA's actually have the button to switch to "performance" mode.

Thanks, I might have to try that soon. LOL I thought it had all to do with programing that is why I was talking about going to the Chevrolet dealer.

I did the B&M shiftplus thing and that was a piece o' crap. Then i did the "perf"shift mod and that worked a billion times better than the B&M.

Mine has done this for years only when at WOT. My tranny has been rebuilt and it still does it and I can guarantee it is not slipping.
