Has anyone done the EFI Connection's LS1 coil conversion on a 96-97 LT1? Is it worth the $2000 cost? What are the pros and cons? Just sick of the opti spark, Thanks Lee

 

Thats a little more than a coil conversion. Thats the whole LS1 pcm and all. the tunability of it would be awsome.

While this is technically an "ignition" question, it really goes a bit beyond that. I think you will get more responses in LT1 Based Engine Tech, so I'll move it there.

 

I looked into it, but could not afford it at the time. Basically, you are placing the LS1 control system on an LT1 engine. What most attracted me (besides deleting the Opti) was the ease of tuning. The 96-97 LT1s have limited tuning and datalogging options, and no integrated solution is available. With this conversion, you could go with HPTuners or EFILive, which are both integrated solutions and are strongly supported by both the developers and the users. Also, a custom OS could be used for on-the-fly mods.
