I really hope this manifold performs well for are own sake. So many people have bashed this intake before it was even released and dont have a damn clue what it is capable of doing. I think people should wake the hell up and realize that the lt1/lt4 engine is no longer the engine of choice. That engine is now the lsx. When manufactures make new ltx parts they should at the very least be given a chance to perform before it is shot down. We didn't even have a lt4 intake avilable and because of it stock lt4 intakes were going for over $800. Now somebody is making them and we're still bitchin! I remember Texas Speed made a post on here about offering ported lt1 heads using the new Edelbrock castings. An angry mob ran them away and I haven't seen or heard anything else about it. We have to remember that our lt1 engines were only put in a handful of cars compared to the lsx engines that are installed in everything from pickups to Corvettes! Hek, GM is even installing lsx style engines in front wheel drive cars. What does this mean? It means more R&D for lsx engines and less if any for ltx. I'm not saying go out and buy every piece of crap part that comes out for the lt1's but if we don't show that we're still interested in modding them, their not going to be. Maybe I should just say forget it and just swap in a lsx engine. Rant over.

Dude Relax...

No one is bashing the intake as much as we are bashing Edelbrock. They have been known to produce aftermarket products for the LT1 engine that cost $$$$ yet doesn't do a damn thing as far as power goes. No one wanted thier heads because they're nothing special. We want good parts, It's gimmicks that we don't want. And enough about the LSX engine, It's not the greatest motor, it's just the latest. Any good mechanic that knows how to build a motor, knows how to make the best out of anything. There's just as many people out there swapping LT1's as there are any other performance motor a good engine is a good engine period.

If you need a new LT1/4 manifold they are available at ~$465. The extra 1/4" runner length looks tasty for the street (Edelbrock is all about street torque.. i.e. low rpm torque). If it's got meat then it may be viable for something more risque.

Currently it's about supply .vs demand. Edelbrock waited and may succeed.

I got lucky and did my LT1 to LT4/Hotcam conversion early when the aftermarket GM LT4 intakes were about $230. And that's what sucks.

These Edelbrock intakes should be going for about $300. With a "slap on 10hp" blurb in Summit then they would go like hotcakes. I think the Edelbrock machine missed the mark on this one.

How much is an 0.25" increase in runner length going to lower the torque curve? That's not going to get you anywhere near the same results as the very long runners on the L98.

Heatmaker, all calm here but what I am saying is we have way too many experts on here bashing stuff before its even tested. This extends further than edelbrock. As far as the ls1 is concerned, I know it's just another engine but look at the obvious. It already has what alot of us are trying to improve upon: coil over wire, 4/7 swap, oring type gaskets, longer rods, better intake, 15 degree heads, etc.. So I get pissed when I see unjustified bashing on any product because I'm trying to convince myself to keep my lt1 while lsx prices are steady on the decline.

yeah there are a few people bashing the intake but I think most people including myself were bashing Edelbrock. They have been markiting this intake as "now available" for months when you couldnt buy it. Thats what has people pissed. They have benn waiting and waiting for a product that just never seems to come.

Personally I just spent the extra $100 and bought a real LT4 and had it in a few days. Sitting on my motor now just waiting for me to find the time to drop it back in the car. If the Edelbrock unit was made available when they said it was going to be I would have bought one and tried it out.

I do like the air gap idea for keeping the air cooler. I know my LT1 does suffer from heat as the temp goes up and it slows down considerable.

Any updates on these? Anyone see/read of any tests confirming their claims?

Supposedly LE should be getting his hands on one soon. They say that there's a lot more potential in the porting in these than in the GM LT4 intakes.

I agree with what you're saying, but let's not forget that the LTx is just another version of the 23* sbc, with a few changes (reverse cooling, opti, etc.). You could argue that there is over 50 years of development on the engine, with only a few years of development on the ignition system that is a great concept whose execution was marginal.

For most, the Edelbrock piece will fill a void nicely - for others the stock LT1 casting will suffice.
