lt1 Ticking.

Had heads off for head gasket replacement. after putting engine back together, engine ran fine, except for a slight ticking. Very hard to notice, I did not hear it right away but it sounded like a slightly loose valve. I only noticed it after I returned from a test drive. Let car set for a week, had no time to look into the ticking. went out and started car on saturday and the ticking had some how gotten way more noticeable. It was coming from under ds valve cover. pulled cover and found #7 intake rocker very loose. But the nut on the rocker stud seemed to be about the same height as all the others. Note: stock every thing. Any thoughts.

I have pretty much the same problem. I had a tech from the dealership I work at listen. Apparently there was a bulletin out about these engines that both LT1 and LS1 have slight piston slap, and that it was nothing to be of a concern.

I still believe its a lifter or somethin

Sounds like your #7 intake lifter is not staying pumped up or the valve lash has come out of adjustment.

agree

reset lash and if this happens again, replace lifters...or at least that one.

if a lifter bleeds down, won't it pump back up after it gets oil pressure? And how long should it take to do it if it will pump back up?
