Dynomax Ultra-flo

i have been getting tired of the drone inside of my car from my flowmaster(single in dual out) and my gutted cat...and had been thinking about getting something else, so i did a search on what ppl have and they have a varity of things! so i decide to take the route less taken and get the dynomax ultra flow 3inch-in single 3inch-out...after my local muffler shop finished the muffler swoppage and started it up it was quiter than my flowmaster, but when the rev'ved it, it made all the diff. in the world! i dont know if its just me but my car seems to have a little more bottom-mid power?possible ...according to my g-tech pro i picked up about .10-.13 in the 1/8th! all installed costed my $118 even.

so i dont think thats a bad purchase for a little extra horse power and a different sound.

the sound of the dynomax could be somewhat compared to an early year camaro with flows! that quick muscle car tone, not deep but not raspy just right.

on a scale of 1-10 i would rate it about a 9.5

thats my opinion on the Dynomax Ultra-flo

Which Ultraflow are you running? The welded race muffler (aluminized case) or the stainless steel street ultraflow? I've got the welded race muffler style on my '79 with an x-pipe in front of it and it sounds pretty nice. I've thought about putting one of these on the formula but I thought it might be too loud for daily driving. I'd love to hear the stainless style, I would imagine they're a little quieter since it's not concidered a 'race muffler'.

Did going with the ultraflow eliminate the interior drone????

Also, what is the part number of the muffler you installed?

i dont have the stainless, i got the fully welded.

i wouldnt say it completely got rid of the interior drone but its not nears as bad as it was...and is just a lot nicer to listen to. i admitt im a huge flowmaster fan, but after hearing a few of these i really like the sound and performance help that i have experienced! im not sure on the part number, but they have it on the dynomax web site i belive (not for sure) my muffler shop had it in stock. but mine is the after looking it up again is the 3.5"inch in and out single in and out (offset), its the oval not the round one either.

if you really need the part number i'd be more then willing to stop by and get if for ya!

what flowmaster did you have?

would you say the ultraflow is quieter, or louder, at WOT?

is the sound changing with time?

I ended up switching out the Flowmaster race mufflers
with an Ultraflow muffler. It's way quieter on the inside
and outside. I would say it's quieter than stock on the
inside of the car and a little louder than stock on the
outside. Good deep mellow tone.
