Well the guys that dynoed my car didn't ask me anything.

All they did was pull the car up on the wheels, strap it down, warm it up, and then let it rip.

Hell, for all I know, it could be wrong. I may need to check into another place to dyno the car and check out their results.

Either way, I still have that surge at 5500 rpms. Hidden power Bo!

Dyno operators do NOT need to know gear ratios. It is essentially irrelevant. The reason you lose power on the dyno with shorter gear (inertia dynos) is because it is calculating its horsepower and torque from acceleration. It takes less time, so the engine is doing more work, and less is going to the ground. There is a thread here that explains it in more detail. Also, I'd think that the power you are missing is in the heads. Tuning will only get you so far.

I just read up on the dyno calculations. I didn't realize that they also measure the ignition pickup while the dyno is done, which will give engine rpm. Now I understand why they don't need the gear ratios. If they know the engine rpm and the speed that the drums are spinning, they don't need the gearing.

If they didn't have the ignition pickup, they would need to know the final gearing, but it wouldn't be quite as accurate as the way they do it now.

I found some hidden horsepower fellas!

When I put the 30# injectors in my car, I didn't change the injector offset v/s battery voltage to match the 30#'s.

I was looking the other day at my turnercat program along with some datamaster files of the car, and really began studing them. The a/f/r kept getting richer and richer. O2 sensors were really high during open loop and WOT. I noticed at around 52 to 5300 rpms, the duty cycle of my injectors were up around 94%, and I knew that that was wrong with that if I had 30#ers in there. I checked the constant and found that it was right on with a 29.99 input. After seaching around and found the injector offset table, and used those inputs of the SVO 30#.

Anyway, I changed them and some timing points and whew, this thing is really comming alive. There is no miss at 5500 rpms anymore, and it is pulling like a beast up to 6300 to 6500. It also seems to no burn nearly as much fuel at idle as it was, because that blue/gray fuel cloud is not around the rear of the car during warm up anymore.

I'm going to change the plugs this weekend, and go back to the dyno soon to see what is going on.

Thanks for all your help and I'll keep everyone posted!

I am real happy with the 224/230. Using stock ported heads on a 383, I make 404 RWHP (5800) and 440 RWTQ(4400) carries over 400 tq from 2800 to 5200. Picked up over 40 hp peak and 30 TQ AVERAGE from 2800 to 6000 by leaning it out.
