Dynaspark questions

Has any one installed one before? I have everything in and the car will just turn over unless I mat the throttle to which it will almost start. I went over all the connections and the only thing that doesn't add up is the four wire plug for the opti/cpu. They say the wires are as follows: red-a, blue-b, green-c and white-d. The plug reads d-c-b-a so I put the color with the letter and am stuck. Could the plug be backwards?

Thanks,

J

Re: Dynaspark questions

I was an early buyer of a Dynaspark when they first came out, and it has worked well for me for almost two years. I don't recall the color matching order, but i followed their directions carefully and everthing worked fine for me.

Re: Dynaspark questions

Thanks guys,

I talked to Phil at DTE and he said to make sure the dowel pin is in the correct hole ( the one with the notch above it ) which I responded I have had Opti's on and off sixteen times without a problem and he said it is possible to have the cam dowel in one of the spots for the cam gear bolts. I have never had that happen before but will say it didn't sit all the way in. There was a very small gap between the back of the Dynaspark and the timing cover which I thought was the o-ring on the backside of the Dynaspark. I guess I will have to pull everything apart to find out. Can you see/feel the differance with it? I started to have alot of knock retard and missfires throught out the rpm range and after four opti's and two rebuilds I think this is the way to go.

Re: Dynaspark questions

I have heard that it is possible to get the dowel in the wrong slot. If so, if it runs at all, it will run very rough. Double check everything and if the problem persists you may need to remove the opti and reinstall it to ensure correct location.

i would secound the possibility of the dowel being in the wrong hole, double check and fire it up.
