dumb cam/heads install question????

ok heres the deal my opti is barely touching my crank pulley on the driver's side but is clears normally on the pass side. im using a double roller timing set, the timing gears were aligned, hub installed and torqued correctly along the pulley, what could cause this, the opti went on smooth and flush. i had to grind the dowel pin down a little on the cam to match the stock one. any ideas

What did you do about the crank position sensor and the reluctor for it? If you did not put the reluctor back in, you need to put it back in or use the pre-96 hub (it has a longer snout).

i ground off the CPS to fit for the double roller and i left the reluctor ring off becuase their was barely enough room for the crank gear after i grinded the cover down with a dremel. so would the only way to fix this be to buy a pre 96 hub???

Now your hub is too short, because the reluctor is gone. That causes your pulley to be moved in closer to the engine and throws your belt alignment off, too. The pre-96s don't have the sensor/reluctor and therefore have a hub that is longer. You will need the older hub.
