DTC code 36, issues on a month old opti?
DTC code 36, issues on a month old opti?
i was driving home yesterday, and sitting at a light, my car almost died, then i got an engine light. drove it home, and it behaved normally, killed it then started and killed a bunch of times and the light went away, but it was having serious issues starting sometimes, wouldnt at all, sometimes having trouble but then firing up, sometimes fires right up. its acting a little bit better this morning, but still doesnt seem right. went ahead and scanned it with Datamaster, and I got code 36 hi-res failure.
This thing is brand new! how the hell could it be bad?

theres a good chance i may have actually found a leak afterall. on closer inspection, i think there may be a leak coming from that 90 degree coolant passage on the left side of the water pump, that may have gotten in the connector. i can see a slight stain directly under the elbow, like the coolant may have blown into the connector at some point. I was in a rush to get to work last night, and just didnt have time to look too closely. Im just going to try to fix the leak and see how it runs after dryin out for 3 days.
well after i installed my opti i got a dtc 16(low res to opti)im pretty sure that was the code anyway.i heard if u have the opti harness disconected and put the key on acc it will set the code until u clear it.i cleared it and its gone
I'm going back a little over a year, and got #36 on an opti that was about 8 weeks old.
It was a check engine light and thats it, if I remember correctly.
I can honestly say, I believe it to be poor grounds on the car.
I'm in the position of changing all the grounds as we speak.
Specifically check the ground that goes from your ignition coil to the side of the car under where your FIPK would be.
