How long can i expect my stcok 161k rear to hold up with a couple of hard DR launches? How long have your held? Not really expecting it to hold long but just trying to see.
Thanks guys

With an M6 I would NOT even put drag radials on the car with the stock 10-bolt, especially with that many miles.

I have about 96K miles on my stock rearend. The last 12K miles about have been on Nitto DRs. Had maybe about 30 passes at the track without and issue, but I still couldn't get off the line any better then a 2.0. Often times they were still spinning. I dont think you should be worried. Some people have blown the rear end out with normal street tires on far less miles, others have tons of launches on DRs without a problem. Just luck of the draw I guess. Next season I think I'll be on ET streets, that might be enough to kiss the rear end goodbye.

As long as the tires spin a little bit off the line you should be okay. Its when you hook hard the rear will go bye bye

I think people hear to much hear say about 10 bolts, everyone on this board talks about them like there made of glass. there not that weak dr are fine, when you switch to et streets is when you see them destruct after a couple runs.

I still have my stock V6 rear from my LT1 swap. It came with full drag slicks( Hoosiers) and I have a feeling the 1st time I get on it....bye bye rear end But I'll have to wait til spring until I get it out to drive.

my guess would be about 1 run down the track, but you might be lucky and have a tank of a 10 bolt...who knows, but i wouldent push it long.

mods in sig but have used my cousins micky thompson slicks before and dead hooked like 6 or 7 times and she held, but, the reason i have 4.10s is because of this http://community.webshots.com/photo/...70006206GxpCsl that was from street tires, on the road, and i wasnt racing i was comming home from work!!

I've been running drag radials for over a year now, and have had many low 1.9x short times on my stock rear end M6 combo. It's holding up good for me.

I'm about to put it to the test this year I think. Telestars and E.T. Streets for the track, with the already installed McLeod Street Twin clutch.

Anyone want to make any bets on how long it'll last??

I have a 10 bolt with 4.10 gears and I have run hossier slicks (on the street) with a few hard launches but tey spin.. prolly cuse it is on teh street.. I don't know if I will run it at the track the way it is casue it wil prolly go after a few launches if I grip really hard.. so I will jsut stick to easy lauches at like 2500 or 3k..
you should be fine, but I wouldn't push it unless you have money saved for a 9" or 12bolt

I raced all of last year with BFG drag radials and the stock 10-bolt, T56 and with 400+ rwhp. About 80 passes down the track. Some people are just lucky I guess.

I only saw two guys in this thread mention their clutch. That is definitly relevent.

I have a 373s with a TA girdle and nittos on a lowered car. I've hooked up a good number of 1.9 60's. I could pull the same 60' time stock as i do now with 20 more lb ft. My last time to the track with heated nittos hooking ~3.5k rpm and 5k rpm clutch drops where resulting in the same 60' time because the stock clutch is mush. There are definitly people pushing much better 60' times on drag radials with the stock 10 bolt. I know mines not in danger with this stock clutch. Once a spec goes in, who knows. but i think i'll still be ok.

I will be getting a set of DR's for next seaon. My car is a 94 Z28 m6 with just over 50k miles, stock clutch, stock rear end.

What is the best launch technique to get the best times?
If I launch at too high an RPM, is there a risk of damaging the rear?

Is dumping the clutch @ about 2500 RPM a bad idea? I thought this would be a reasonable technique. Also I heard you realy need to heat up the Drag radials before a run otherwise traction is even worse than with street tires, so I guess I should do a quick burnout also right?
