Does $300 sound like a good deal for a cam install?
Does $300 sound like a good deal for a cam install?
I know a guy who is a mechanic and he said he'd install a cam, springs, rockers, etc. for $300. He said he would hopefully have it done in a day.
Is the price fair and is the time frame realistic?

Re: Does $300 sound like a good deal for a cam install?
yes that price is cheap. will probably take him 2 days unless he starts early and works on it non-stop
i usualy charge 3-400 to do a cam, spring, rocker, electric pump, etc install, but i only work on cars for people i am buddies with, so thats why i dont charge a lot more. takes me 2-3 days since i am not able to work on them all day at a time

If he was expecting to do it and knew what he was doing he can have it done in a day. You'd be amazed how fast techs in dealers finish things...when you know the car, have the tools and have the proper facilities things are ALOT easier.

Yeah that sounds great, A couple of years ago i had a man around the corner do my cam and rockers for i believe $250, i furnished all parts of course--Now i want to go to the next cam up and and the two shop i check with, again me furnishing everything but install is around $700 plus-(CAM ONLY), I havent seen the guy who did my install last time--Jump on it if you think he can do the job right.
If he does your ok, would you mind flying him to Shreveport La to do mine? Thanks for your help Dwayne
