Post Rockford amp question

Would a Rockford 300s amp be a good choice to run the standard JL sub that comes with the stealthbox or is this too much power?

75 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
150 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms
300 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms in bridged mode

If there is another Rockford with the remote amp control that you think is better, please let me know!

Thanks for the replies.

300W will work fine. I was running 600W to my JL 10W3 D4 until I recently switched to a 10" Alpine Type-S 1041D.

Thanks for the reply. Your stealthbox came with a D4? I thought they came with D2s. And how does your alpine sound? Would you recommend the Type-R or S and is 300 watts enough for these subs?

Why don't you get a JL 300/1 they are pretty cheap and will match the sub for about the same price off of the net. Plus they have the R.I.P. circiutry in which you get the same power from different amounts of resistance (aka ohms).

I used to have a D2 in my JL Vantage Stealthbox. When I got the MTX Thunder 6500D amplifier I wanted to run it at 2ohms so I switched to the D4. Now I've replaced that with the Type-S. I'm very happy with the performance of this sub. I recommend it highly for use in a JL style Stealthbox. I think it would make a great match with your amp.

Well first of all make sure you buy the stealthbox and not the vantage box. The stealthbox is made out of molded fiberglass and is much more riggid than the plastic vantage box, which will result in much better bass response. Second the sub that comes in a stealthbox is a 10W3-D2. You can either wire it up in parrallel and get a 1 ohm load or in series and get a 4 ohm load depending on your amp. The best amp for that sub would be a JL250/1 is a very efficient amplifier and definitly one of the best on the market. Rockford sucks stay away from it.

Maddboost,

Have you used Rockford before? I was under the impression that they weren't bad, they weren't great, but they did the job. Also, I like the remote bass boost for the pure fact of being able to tune the sub while driving.

Anyone else have opinions on Rockford?

RF amps have been work horses for years. I don't particularly like the looks of them myself but they far from "suck". Does that make sense? Anywho...On a dollar per watt bassis they're a pretty good buy. That 300W mono spec is a conservative rating too. It should make an exceelent subwoofer amp.

IMO of course.
