Do strokers REALLY run quicker?

sounds great
i'll mark my calander
wtf does the state in which it was built in have any effect on its performance
My car was built in NY. When we are done can I have rich krause, sstroker ace and a few others (mindgame NY?) show you up? would that settle your ego? Or do you insist on having someone from michigan with an 9 sec 383 light you up?
your car is FAR from spectacular and breath taking so i wouldn't run off talking crap about a whole state, especailly michigan. Their pizza may suck and their delis are worse, but God damn their cars are fast.
sheesh, talk about a chip on your shoulder. Where did THAT one come from

I never said my car would take out your state
anyway, this is just some lame attempt to hijack the thread into another meaningless redneck yeehaw debate about how losing 60lbs gained you .5 secs in the 1/4 mile.
I invite you to have to last word. I rest assured knowing it will be a meaningless one.
You obviously have a large ego and i do not care to engage in a meaningless debate with it in a meaning full thread.
now back to your regularly programmed thread.

I tend to agree....
For the majority out there wanting... ~450 rwhp. The stock casting is plenty capable. You're not going to get magical hp levels on the cams alot of guys here are using though.... they're too small.
That's my observation of the situation but I do know that to make a 350 rev to say 6700-7000 rpm, you'll need a cam in the 244-250 @.050 range. Most of the hydraulic roller guys are more like 224-230. No surprises but I think the fear of "too much" cam may be holding some people back... while others have other issues which dictate something more docile. That's cool too... we all have different agendas.
Everyone I've talked to agrees that the intake needs work... especially on a stroker. The heads are ok but that depends on where you want to go. If you'll notice... I didn't choose to use them but my goals may be different from some others here.
and I think Russ' car is exceptional... so I can only praise his efforts.

Oh boy...more insults from Trey. GREAT!
As far as stock heads flowing well enough for a 383, I personally wouldn't know...but, I think I'd trust people that do this for a living (Phil)...but then again...I'm just one of those podunks from SC.
What do I know, right?
And what's all this I'll bring this guy and that guy stuff? Usually when I run my mouth, I'm speaking on behalf of myself and my car...not that it's all that much to run my mouth about...post history will show that I don't run my mouth often either.

Your car wouldn't run anywhere close to what it does if you were pulling 2.0 60' times and put any weight reduction stuff back in.
Weight reduction? You mean the sway bar?...That's the ONLy weight reduction I have.

I DID comment on the stock heads on 383 motor, oh, didn't read that huh?
This thread's going to the toilet? I think what's going to the toilet is MUCH more than this thread...but, that's just me.

I know mine that I have now ways like 18 lbs.
LT1 heads wont flow enough for a 383. Even ported ones.
Forced induction will take care of this.. Hell, even N/A they work well. I am assuming they will not have the very best potential over other heads by a small margain..yes, no $hit sherlock, but I am sorry, the tards are out in full force on this thread now.Staying 355 for the mere fact that stock castings wil not "work well" with a 383...LOL

You can just ask John Hunkins and the rest of the GM Hi Tech Crew. And, Phil....I believe the guy knows his $hit man; have you SEEN the numbers his heads put down?! Oh...but, I forget, if it's not printed in Hot Rod Magazine and someone on here with a few thousand posts says it ain't true; all the sheep follow. I think the "tards" are those that take everything they read from this board as fact. As of yet, I've seen nothing but speculation, they work with this, should work with that...may not have the best potential, might not do this. So, until YOU can lay down some hard evidence and close this matter with FACT...I think you might need to think hard about who you're calling names; just might be the man in the mirror.

For anyone to assume you should not build a 383 because they have to use stock LT1 castings is retarded. I am posting this for any poor newb who reads this trash actually might think it is not a good idea.

Here is another stroker example. A N/A, hydraluic cam, ported stock head 383 that has run 11.20 @ 122 MPH. This is with the PCM pulling up to 6 deg of timing on the launch which is causing a serious bog. The launch RPM's are dropping from 5800 to 3500 RPM in the 60'. Even with the bog in RPM the car has 60' times in the 1.58 range. Once the timing retard issue is solved 11.0's and 10.9's are expected.
/Re-post/
Here is an example, along with all the others listed, that shows the potential of a stroker. Once again, this is by no means a radical motor. It truly is a street motor that has gone on 300 mi road trips and runs on the track on a weekly basis.
Bottom line, this motor has the potential for 10's N/A and will run 9's when the spray is back on it.
I am not saying this is the strongest combination in the world but it is quicker and faster then the small CI motors that were listed in the origional post.
