Idle? Part throttle? WOT?

This really should be in the computer/diagnostics forum, it'll get lost in here.

added timing and idle speed at idle, left the mid range alone, decreased timing in the upper rpm/map range

What would be the reason to add timing and idle speed at idle?
Curious to see if I need to add timing at idle...... car drops rpm's to like 500-600 and throws 2 codes, SES light comes on.

installed new cam, found that the revs bounced a lot at stock idle and the car bogged/stalled on takeoff and reverse from timre ti time.

So I upped my idle by a couple of hundred to smooth it out and if you increase idle you need to add some timing

Looking over other peoples files this seems like a typical adjustment that's made to accomidate aftermarket cams.
