do i have an alarm?
maybe a dumb question but i have a 94z28 and there is a little red light where the cigarette lighter is and it blinks when the car is locked but i have never heard an alarm even trying to get it to go off

I have a 94 too and I have a light by my lighter but I put it there 
I don't believe the factory alarm put a light in that location. Sounds like an aftermarket alarm light... but that doesn't explain why it has never gone off on you! It could be one of those $9.95 "fake" alarms that consist only of a blinking light 
I suggest tracing the wires back from the light and see where they lead.
