Do gears help 1/4mile times?

Do gears help 1/4mile times?

I wanna say i would think so but jmust checking? my car is an m6 too. thanks

Not necessarily. Depends on what gears are in it now, how much power you make relative to the weight of the car, and size of tire. These are the main considerations. If you have the typical M6/3.42 combo with a relatively stock motor, the answer is yes, they will help.

well i put in some 3.73's and i gained next to nothin. maybe 1 mph but thats it! i was dissapointed, although it does FEEL faster. i wish i woulda gone with some rr or somethin for the motor.

I gained nothing from a gear change at all.

I have an auto that makes a lot of torque and gearing was not needed....stupid me....

Hmmm, strange that you guys didn't see gains. I went from running consistent 13.90's to 13.50's with my 3:73's.

But if I were you, I'd go 4:10's with a M6.

yeah but with 410s how bad is gas gonna be compared to what it is now, i only get between 185 to 220 to the tank.

Gears help in the 1/4 ONLY if you can get traction.

I didn't lost too many MPGs when I switched over to 3.73s.
