Dimmer switch doesn't work, HELP...

Well, I posted on this a while back, but just recently got to check it out and really would like to be able to use my brights if I need too. I have done the fog light on with high beam mod and never even seen if it works...

Anyhow, shoebox suggested last time I posted on this to see if the actuator rod was moving. The answer is yes, it is moving, but not far enough. In order for it to "click" into high beam mode I had to manually push it on forward more myself. Now I can't do this while I am driving obviously, especially with the cover underneath my steering wheel, so what is wrong? Is the dimmer switch broke? Is there just a piece somewhere else possibly broke? Any help is appreciated greatly...thanks all.

And if you think you know what is wrong and know where I can buy it or what the PN# is, I would appreciate that too.

OK then, next question, how do I replace the thing? Instructions, pictures, anything would be nice...do I have to take the steering column apart? If so, how do I do that? Anything...

And thanks Alex...

The dimmer and ignition switches are mounted with the same 2 screws. The mounting holes in both of them are slotted so you can make adjustments for the rods to work properly. The dimmer may just need adjustment, perhaps even the screws have loosened. Probably you need to move the switch closer to the top of the column. You can just lower the column down to get to it. It is a little cramped but doable. You can test to see if it works ok before putting everything back together. If the dimmer ends up being broken, just get a new one and replace it while you have it opened up.

Thanks shoebox, will check out this evening...
BTW, that pic is just the top of the steering column after it has been dropped by loosening the "V" bracket, right?

Unhappy

sorry for the bump,

im experienceing the same problem with my car, i just took apart a few parts of the steering column trying to see what was going on. It looks like the rod is being pushed to the side rather than streight in - how do i correct this so the peice that looks like a "Y" move the rod strieght in instead of to the side? this thing is driving me nuts. thanks for any help.
