Difference in 93 - 95 LTI motor
O.K. I am asking again because it was never answered before, which is unusual for this site.
My 93 Z is in need of a head gasket.
I have a 95 non Z LT1 sitting in my shed waiting on a rebuild.
Instead of just doing gaskets why not do a rebuild. I just need to know what all is different in the block, cam and heads, between the 2.
Can I just buy another 93 cam and rebuild everythig else from a 95 motor and call it a day, or do i need to swap more internals?

Do you mean by non-Z that it was in a b-body? If so it probably has iron heads.. If corvette, aluminum
This is a good website to go to for information on the various years of the LT1:

a little leason for both of you then ... (not to be rude just making sure this is out there)
93 had a 3.4l V6 and a 5.7 LTI <-- Z28 and a non Z28 with rear drum brakes not disk and no badges still single cat with dual outlet muffler.
95 had 3.4L/207, 3.8L/231 5.7L/350 <-- Z28 and non Z28 with rear drum brakes not disk and no badges still single cat with dual outlet muffler, and I do believe an SS model also.
Thought this was weird too, so I took the vin to the car to my Friend who works at a Gm dealer. Pulled the codes as a Camaro, LT1, no power accesories. No traction control or anything. And yes its a 95 V8 I know what a V6 and a V8 look like, just not familar with the internals of an LT1. standard 350 is a no brainer.

The "non Z28" was the B4C "special service package" - essentially a Z28 without the badges. It still had 4 wheel discs. Foglamps were deleted and there were certain restrictions on options. In theory, it could only be bought by and delivered to government agencies.
you can use the newer cam......its the timing chain you need the one with splines in it. The timing cover has to match the opti its being used with
The opti, timing chain cover, and cam need to all match for the right year. The 93-94 non-vented opti's were driven by a dowel pin, while the 95-97 opti's were driven by the pin on the cam face. Also, if you decide to swap to a 95 and up setup, you may need a 1LE or equivalent intake elbow to hook up the breather tube for the opti cap. Or just ghetto rig it
This "mythical" camaro may have been originally a 3.4L V6, converted to a V8 by the original owner. Check the VIN to be sure. Go here for help on decoding the VIN:

And the SS option for camaros started in '96. But as far as I know, some lucky people have already gotten their hands on B4C Camaros. I forget which magazine I saw it in, but some guy had one. Rare as they are, I still like seeing the Z28 on my car

Actually, B4C's aren't all that rare...atleast not around here. There are actually 2 running around in my little ****-ant town in arkansas, not to mention I've seen quite a few listed locally/on ebay in the past few years. Guess all the rednecks got the cool interceptors.
