Dexcool to Regular Anti-Freeze conversion.

I heard of guys doing it. I was wondering if its okay for the motor or should I just stay with the Dexcool?

Stay with the Dexcool. That's what your car is designed for.

Last month I wanted to do a coolant flush, so I called the dealer to find out what to put in the system. Surprisingly he told me to put the green stuff in. He said it doesn't last as long as dexcool, but it is better for the system. Right or wrong? I dunno. I honestly don't believe there is a difference, other than longevity, but thats just me. The only thing is, the system has to be completely flushed if you are going from one to the other, because the green will destroy the efficiency of the dexcool.

That would be a big fat wrong. Green stuff has a much higher concentrate of silica, which kills off water pumps. The Dexcool also does a better job of transferring heat. Don't waste your time with the green stuff.

Most are! Don't feel bad, it took mine FOUR tries to change a windshield washer fluid reservoir!!! If the car hadn't been under warranty at the time I would have never let them put their greasy paws on it.

I have a 95 Z28 and I have been using the green stuff. Was my car made to use the green stuff or am I putting the wrong antifreeze in my car??

Your car came stock with Dexcool. There will always be people who are resistant to change and ignorant to new technologies...and one of them put green coolant in your car! It's not the end of the world, but the next time you do a flush I'd put the Dexcool back in.

Sounds good to me. I bought it a year ago and have always used the green crap since thats what was in it when I bought it. I will have to change that.

I'm fairly sure that pre-95s came with the green. My car came with Dexcool and thats what I use. Even if your car came with the green stuff I'd still switch to Dexcool. Better heat transfer and being better on the waterpump seals helps.

when I got my car used, it had the green stuff in it. However, the manual calls for dexcool, so I would assume it came with dexcool from the factory.
