Delteq question

Ok my opti is out on my '93 z. And if i go with one of these Delteq system does the opti have to be fully fuctional for it to work? Sorry to ask this question but I still don't see how it'll work with a none fuctional opti. Also is the Delteq sensitive to water or moisture?

Re: Delteq question

Q1: What's dead on your opti? If it's the cap & rotor (causing preignition/detonation), then you can use it. If it's the optical sensor in the back, it needs replaced. The LT1 computer needs the optical sensor for it to make timing adjustments, and if it doesn't get a signal it won't do squat...

Q2: All electronics hate water & moisture. Although I'm pretty sure the Delteq system is fairly well sealed, and shouldn't be more sensitive to water than any other ignition components.
