I have an auto right now so its not that important to me, but I have a 6-speed conversion on teh way so I want to fix the parking brake. It pulls up and has tension, but it barley does anything at all. Even when I pull it up as hard as I can I can barley feel it working. Anyone know what's causing this?

 

changed pads recently? you need to do the free travel adjustment. check on shoebox's site i think the details lie within.

 

Still the same pads on it when I bought it. I think they are POS pads too.

 

huh...... try it anyway. when i changed my pads i could pull the handle staight up! wouldn't even hold my car on a slight incline. if the cables are good i cant see what it could be being the pressure on the pads from the e-brake is mechanical. the only thing that is tuff are those springs.

 

There's nothing wronge with the spring or handle or the adjustment. They engage fine, they just don't do ****.

 

Try pulling it as far up and back down about 15-20 times, "pumping" it if you will. It helps sometimes.

 

The brake pads engage fine on the disks, they just don't do ****, like they are glazed or something.
