Ignition Module comes to mind. Are you sure those coils will work with the system? I haven't heard of those being used.

Why don't you check with Delteq on what exactly you need?

Well...if they don't work with the Delteq, then they'll be worth exactly what you paid for them.

Congrats on yer freebie, but you'd better make sure those will work.

Do you mean the 8 individual LS1 style coils used on the 4.8L Chevy/GMC 1/2 ton pickups from 1999-present? If so, you have the wrong coils. The Delteq uses the "wasted spark" principle, and requires 4 dual-tower coils that fire two cylinder simultaneously. Same type they use in the F-Body V6's, the Buick GN/GNX engines.... but more specifically, the dual-tower coils from a Northstar or the Oldsmobile version. I though you needed the Northstar ignition driver module as well.... but I could be wrong.

If it doesn't look like this then you have the wrong parts...free or not.

That metal "plate" on the bottom is the ignition module, and you need that too.

You need the coilpacks off the Caddy Northstar, or the Oldsmobile Aurora V-8's.

Search Ebay for good deals, got mine for $120 w/ module.

Dave -- is that mounting plate fixed to the ICM?

FYI -- If you order the assembly thru Delteq, it does not come with the same type of metal mounting plate on the bottom of the ICM. At least, it's not one-piece.

The valvecover mounted kit (Caprice/Impala) comes with a bracket and heat sheild custom-made by Delteq. I would assume the same applies for the radiator-shroud mount, judging by the photos.

So, if your 'junkard/take-off' coils dont come with a bracket, it's nothing to worry about. You can most likely order the brackets thru Delteq for a reasonable price.

Also, dont let the photos fool you -- the coil assembly is rather large -- it weighs a solid 5 pounds, and the coils are about the size of my fists:

The coil packs are used on about a jillion GM cars, but you must have the coil module from a V8 like the Northstar.

The coils you have will not work with our system...we need to use the Cadillac Northstar/Olds Aurora coilpack from 1994-1999.

Give us a call with any questions!
