Delteq Opti Box from inside pic.

Since I got ripped off from a guy on the Corvette Forum, he sold me a defect opti box with the complete system. I thought since the box doesn't work I might as well take it apart and see if anyone has some schematics that could help me out. I have a few people on hand, electronic engineers, which might be able to help.

I already have the wiring harness schematics from the Delteq site. Any help would be appreciated and maybe we can get down to fixing these damn opti boxes.

JC Hyde strikes again.

The Delteq is not very reliable. I personally wouldn't even consider trying to fix it.

You ripped yourself off buying something WELL documented to be unreliable and with no company left to go to for repair.

IMO the "opti eliminators" that keep the opti are a joke anyway but at least the LTCC is still around and offers a LOT more features, but by the time you spend the substantial cash on those you might as well consider the LS pcm swap and get a whole lot more for your money, then again for the cost of that you can be looking as an actual LS swap.............

Ok quick question, sorry for the newb question but what is the Opti? I've seen it on here several times and it wasnt on the abbrivations page that I saw so I'm asking, I just got my dream car 96 T/A and I'm going to be rebuilding it, so I'm just trying to learn as much as I can

It's the OptiSpark distributor. The front half is a conventional cap/rotor setup, the back half is an optical cam position sensor. It's mounted on the front of the engine, driven off the cam nose (or cam sprocket, depending on year) and right under the water pump weep hole. Prone to damage from coolant and water.

Good info here:

Re: Delteq

I had to to a valve, head gasket overhaul. I'm getting ready to put it back together. I put a new MSD opti spark, water pump, timing chaing etc.. I had a Delteq with the 4 coils working.
Should I go back to the orginal eom ign sytem? I did not know the delteq spark system were failing, or support was gone. It has been a few years since I had the car running. It would save me a bunch of work to only install one system, and not have any problems.

Any help

Re: Delteq Opti Box from inside pic.

I have an extra control box they sent me,and it turned out to be a bad coil, when I was having problems. This control box worked fine. I checked it after I changed the bad coil.
I am going back to my oem system I think, since car is all apart. This control unit was for the Delteq system I bought for my 1995 lt1. I will have no use for the extra control box once I got back to the eom single coil system. Also in California no support. No CAB number.
No charge except shipping.
I hope I still have all my parts for my eom system.

The MSD opti is at least as likely to give you problems as the Delteq.
