Question delteq or ltcc

What are the advantages and disadvantages of both the delteq and the LTCC systems? I have looked at both and can't decide between the two systems.

I have a NX nitrous wet system, if that should be a factor in the decision.

Thanks

Joe

If you want all the functionality of the LTCC you will have to buy an MSD DIS-4 ignition for $329.99....

Coils for LTCC can be from 5.3L/6.0L or 5.7/8.1L you just have to specify.

I bought my 5.3L coils from ebay for $75 shipped (make sure to get the square ones as they have more output).

So price breakdown:
LTCC:
LTCC - $399
Wires - $50 to $109
Coils - $100 or so
Approximate Total $600.00
Delteq
$667.25 complete ready to go + $329.99 for MIS-DIS4 if you have want timing retard and 2 step rev limiter (very much required for us nitrous/drag racing types)

The key will be the stage 2 option from Delteq allowing (hopefully) both ignition systems to be able to remove the "opti" entirely.

You can't realistically compare full-cost on the Delteq with junkyard-costs of the LTCC.

-8 brand-new LS1 coils cost ~ $290.98 delivered from GMPD. (Possibly around $250-270 from Jason).

-Junkyard or Ebay Northstar ICM/coils can be had for at least $120 (Dave88lx).

So, that would make a total of $750-800 maximum possible cost on the LTCC (*excluding mounting hardware*), and a rough estimate of $847-$900 for the Delteq w/ Junkyard coils and MSD DIS ign-control box. So realistically, the two are very comparable. At least within $50-150 of eachother depending on what route is taken. Prices WILL vary -- Just depends on how lucky you get on the coils/ICM.

Hope I did the math right on that. Please correct me if I screwed up somewhere...

I would go delteq personally. No experience either way, but the delteq system looks like a better complete package with wires, coils, and module.

I think it is just personal prefrence either way, you cant go wrong with either IMO.

I went with the LTCC and couldn't be happier. I believe in supporting guys like Bob Bailey (Turbobob) who has without question the best customer support of any f-body vendor. I've got an LS1 vendor who can supply brand new coils for $20 each all day long and $15 for shipping all eight. Send an email to ValveGod@aol.com to check availability. Jay Fisher Pontiac in NJ sells some really cool brackets for the coils that put them under your cowl and lets you use the stock plug wires. Really cleans up the engine bay vs putting them on the valve covers. Ask for Abe at Fisher...

I can only comment on the LTCC box. IMO it is a great investment. Right away you will notice the car idles alot smoother and the throttle response is more crisp. I am putting down over 700 rwhp with this system and have never had a problem.

I went with the LTCC, in fact I am trying to get it all hooked up right now. The directions are a little vague, but it is definetly a top notch unit. Just make sure you specify which coils you will be using when you order it. Different coils have different plug connectors.

So to reprise the math comparison with new coils:

So price breakdown:
LTCC:
LTCC - $399
Wires - $50 to $109 (Taylor or Magnecore - Magnecores can be ordered in custom lengths to accomodate ready to go setup)
Coils - $175.00 shipped
Approximate Total $684.00 (with Magnecore wires)
Includes full time and 2 step rev limiter, timing retard adjustable all at once or with a multiplication by RPM (second feature not available on DIS-4)

MBA is working on custom brackets/fuel rail covers -

See http://www.mbaproducts.com/whatsnew.htm and there are others under development.

Delteq
$667.25 complete ready to go + $329.99 for MIS-DIS4 if you have want timing retard and 2 step rev limiter (very much required for us nitrous/drag racing types)
$997.24 to have comparable features.

My LTCC has been ordered and hopefully will arrive soon.

I will be writing up an extensive installation procedure for my site to help others and Bob out. I am also going to be working on a bracket/fuelrail cover setup for my car that I may come out with (If I have to pay the setup fee might as well sell some) that will hide the coils under the fuel rail covers (hopefully).

so wait a second guys...Do you NEED to get the DIS-4 if you go with the LTCC? I have tunercat and i can program any retard i want via the computer. If i dont HAVE to get the DIS-4 Then the cost of the LTCC is CONSIDERABLY less than Delteq.

Thanks,
T.C.

The LTCC has all of the functions of the DIS-4 built into it.
The Delteq requires the DIS-4 to be comparable to the LTCC in function.

By including the DIS-4 for the Delteq it allows you to see pricing for an equivilantly equiped ignition setup.

(edit: mtxpert beat me to it. )

GreanBabyZ -- No, you've got the names reversed in your post.

The MSD DIS-4 ignition box is required on the Delteq for use on forced induction or nitrous applications. Not required for n/a.

And no, the LTCC's retard and limiter features are not exactly the same as the MSD box. You can read about that here: http://www.msdignition.com/sci_4.htm

Either kit is a great upgrade, and customer service is top-notch. Cant go wrong with either setup, IMHO.

I also have a question. I have 94 Z with a blower on it and the FAST System. Would the LTCC or the Delteq be better for me?

Both systems are great, It seems like people expect an answer of this one is great and that one isnt, but ill your going to get is people saying that both are great.

I personally went with the Delteq because i am staying n/a and dont need the Dis-4 box, so the complete ready to go system was the easy choice for me.

But like i said, either system is great.

The LTCC is fully compatible with the FAST.
