Re: delteq

I put a Delteq on my 96 after my 2nd opti went out. It worked just great until the "brain" overheated (too close to hot engine area). I replaced that and had zero problems since.

PS: I put a heatsink on the new brain and made sure it wasn't bolted to anything that conducted heat. Insulating it helps too.

Other than that...I never had to fiddle with the stupid optispark again.

That was worth the cost in itself.

Re: delteq

They are no longer in business so no tech support or replacements. Quite a few people have had the "heat" issue. If I were you looking for the coil conversion id go check out the ltcc. Its still in production and has tech support and even still tests the brain.

Re: delteq

I've had the delteq system for about 8 yrs now with no problems. But yeah they dont exist anymore so you should definitely go with the ltcc. I'm just waiting on the day mine fails and I'll be going with the ls-1 style ignition. I've completely relocated the brain from the front of the cylinder head over to the wheel well. Away from all heat
