Datamaster MALF codes
Datamaster MALF codes
I just put a new opti on my car trying to get it squared away. While it was off I also had the coil and all of the connections off checking it out.
After getting the car back together and going for drive, it has a miss, but different from before.
Wondering if I had a burned wire, I pulled injector power off one by one trying to see if there was a change in engine speed.
Not having much luck with this, I put the datamaster on the car and I am getting a ton of codes now.
15: Cool temp to low
18: Injector circuit fail
48: MAF fail
64: right 02 lean (had this before but voltage on maf is 4mv and not changi
ng)
83: TCC control feedback fault (I have a M6?)
Sounds like a ground is loose or fuse may be blown, but I can't find anything.
??--Do the codes in the DTC reset automatically? I wonder if these are all active codes.

DTC 18 set when you pulled the wires off the injectors to check for a burned wire.
You say your MAF is only reading 4mV, but the output signal from the MAF sensor is a variable frequency, and DataMaster will report in "grams/second". Are you sure you saw 4mV somewhere? Apparently you know the MAF sensor is not reading correctly? Your mixing of the MAF with the O2 sensor is confusing.
DTC 83 has a different meaning on an M6 car..... "Reverse inhibit system (manual transmission)". Are you (or did you at any time recently) have a problem putting the tranny lever into the reverse slot?
Did you at any time start the engine with the coolant temp sensor in the water pump housing not connected? That would explain the DTC 15.

Fred,
I just wanted to thank you for taking time to respond.
I went through everything again today. I noticed that I had forgotten to plug in the pcv connection on the passenger valve cover, and had also forgotten to plug in the air pump connection into the intake tube.
Upon inspection of the wiring for my pass O2, the wiring harness is very close to the headers. I moved it and the readings seem to be working. I still believe I have an exhaust leak before the o2 at the collector y pipe connection. Unfortunately, with my y pipe, the o2 is just barely hitting the flywheel housing. I think I am going to have to do something about this, as well as pull the harness and check the insulation on the wires. The readings do seem to be ok now, in my previous post I was talking about a 4mv signal from the o2, mistakenly labeled maf.
I ran the car and took some logs, the driver side is indicating rich, and the pass is lean. The car seemed to run ok. There is a bit of kr off idle, but none at full throttle. However, the duty cycle on the left was 80 percent, and 100 on the right.
I got out my tunercat, and limited the long term counts. The result was about 80 on each side. Car seemed to run a bit better, but still problems. When I opened, the cutout, I got a lot of kr, must be getting some serious vibrations.
So I think I will check the following:
-Replace both o2 sensors
-Check wiring to o2's
-Check knock sensor and wirings
-Check motor mounts and position of motor to see if it is touching the frame, causing vibration.
Thanks!
