This is what I was talking about.
See how close the pushrod holes are to the intake port?
It creates a restriction which limits how big you can make the port.
So much so that it becomes the biggest bottleneck in the castings.
(Same deal with SBC and LT1 castings)

I was curious to see what they looked like in the 200 casting.
I was hoping maybe they moved them out a bit or maybe found some
way to use a smaller hole for the pushrods.

The ones on my heads look like they are machined rather than part of the casting.
I'm sure there's a reason for that, I don't think it's likely they did it on purpose to get you to buy the bigger casting.
But it would not be the first time I've seen that kind of game played.

The rocker studs into the ports is normal, be sure to use thread sealer when you install them.

Has anyone ever came up with the part number for the 200cc heads?

My stock ported LT1 castings are exhibiting signs of being cracked. I just replaced the head gaskets on them and the car engine is still behaving the same as before. I'm looking at these Dart heads you mentioned as replacements but on the Summit site, it says the exhaust port is 'square' instead of the tradtional LT1 notation of "D-Shaped". Is that a typo on Summits site or did your heads actual have a square port?
Here's summits site for those heads...
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
Was there anything that was not provided on the Dart heads such as the accessory bolt holes or the steam tube provisions in the back of the heads, etc? Did you need a special exhaust flange on your headers for these heads?
Thanks,

Correct, Dart heads have square exhaust ports. I used a FelPro 1405 gasket and it worked fine.
Most headers are round or oval, which isn't really an issue.

Thanks,
All of the bolt and water provisions exist. MAKE SURE you cap the unused
water ports on the fronts of the heads and the one on the side of the passenger head
(unless you run a sensor there). Otherwise, you get a nice coolant shower

So what coolant lines are still used with this Dart head? I am probably going to get a set of these, just want to know exactly what I need to do with them. Do you still use the metal line on the back from one head to the other? What are the "front holes" on the head? I dont remember these, I guess they came capped stock from the factory?

Use exactly what you have on your stock heads. Same steam pipe, same caps.
Just know that the castings (just like stock ones) are designed to fit either side.
The holes on the back used for the steam pipe exist on the front as well (cap them)
The provision for the coolant temp sensor on the driver's side head exists on the passenger side as well.

Your stock heads are already set up for left/right because they're already on the car.

You'd have the exact same coolant passage issues with TFS (or any other vendor).

Yeah, I was going to say. They have to arrive to you w/o any plugs or sensors since they (the vendor) don't have any idea which side of the motor you're going to place the heads.

Just add it to the list of dirty little secrets no one tells you when you start building a motor LOL
I started a thread full of tips and gotchas over on tech after my 383 build to save others the headaches.
