Which dampner?
Re: Which dampner?
you can use your stock one but the only problem that i had with my 383 stocker was that my crank had 2 keys on it so Chad from golen told me to chizel the first one out the shave a notch on the stock hub it self
Re: Which dampner?
A 12-year old damper might be on its last legs.... we're starting to see more frequent problems with the rubber cracking. So it might not be a good idea to reuse an old one on a new engine.
You could get a new stocker, I think Pioneer also makes one for the LT1, ASP makes an integrated U/D pulley/damper. If you plan to run under 11.00 NHRA requires that you have an SFI-rated damper. ATI and Fluidampr make those, at about $400 a pop. Two schools of thought... either ATI sucks or Fluidampr sucks, depending on which engine builder you are talking to. I run the ATI. There is also a "Fluid Damper" (note the spelling difference) sold on eBay for about 1/2 of what a real Fluidampr sells for.... who knows how good the quality is though?
You can have the stock hub keyed..... a "must" with a blower and a good idea for any high HP application. The ATI and Fluidamprs are keyed.
