damaged catback, dented, replacement needed??
damaged catback, dented, replacement needed??
Basically, i hit something really hard with my right rear tire, the tire went so high it got cut on the fender and i looked underneath and found that the axle went up and smacked into the exhaust pipe that goes over the axle. It put a nice dent in it, prob around 1/2" deep in the center and just rounded out on the sides, since the axle itself is rounded. So it's a smooth little pit with 0.5" center deep from the outside wall of the pipe. Does this warrant replacing, am i losing that much power?? I don't think i am, reason i ask is becuase ppl make a big deal about mandrel bent pipes, 3" IPIPE over the 2.75", etc. Thanks in advance.

Thats what happened,
.
Thought it was just the tire and wheel damage, now i have a bent exhaust pipe and some kinda rattle from the right year on startup, gotta track that down too.............

well, i was so paranoid i actually calculated it out.
3" pipe has area of pi*1.5^2=7.068 in^2
i measured the dent and it is approx 0.5" deep and i'll estimate it at a half circle since it's smooth. So with the dent the area is pi*1.5^2-0.5*pi*0.5^2=6.676 in^2
then i said, wtf, lets say if i had the stock 2.75" pipe in there, the area would be pi*1.375^2=5.939
I can sleep at night now,
