Re: Cutout/Header question

I ran my cutout with no cats and it was so loud that I couldnt hear my dads Harley Heritage Softail at throttle. I put the Cats back on since the smell was so bad and it actually sounds better with cutout and Cats, smoother. DMH is a nice quality cutout and I like mine but I'd rather just have a nice sounding Catback and not worry about the butterfly valve maintenance and call it a day. Also, geting under the car all the time with no elec plate is a pain in da azz sometimes.

Re: Cutout/Header question

I still say dump it at the passenger side window or like 10-15 inches back from that

Re: Cutout/Header question

I've got a 3" manual cutout I'm gonna section into my ORP soon. I'll do a open/closed back to back and see how it goes.

Re: Cutout/Header question

OK - Pacesetter ORY pipe - u know how its smashed for clearance reasons on the drivers side right after the header? For that reason, it looks like it isn't possible (or is difficult/costly) for a shop to weld in a cutout there. rather than dual cutouts, I think I will go with one before the axle bend like my old setup. Then, maybe I can afford electric = )

How much of a volume difference is there between dual and one a little further back? (anyone had both with similar setup otherwise?)

Thanks!

Re: Cutout/Header question

How loud just running with Y pipe? Will you get ticket for too loud? The reason is I am finishing putting everything back together and with after market exhaust header, Y pipe I will need to drive to muffler shop so they can weld the cat to Y pipe.

Re: Cutout/Header question

I can't imagine THAT dramatic of a difference between that and open headers - especially if Y pipe doesn't have cats like mine. If anything, it may sound better than open headers, and from what I've read, around Y-I connection is best place for cutout.

For Pacesetter ORY pipe tho -- since it is smashed on driver's side for clearance - is it possible to get dual cutouts in there? Also, I'm just getting one - where is the best place for it? At end of y-pipe or start of I pipe, or back more by the axle where clearance is best??

Thanks

Re: Cutout/Header question

my 2 1/2" pipes BARELY clear the transmission crossmemember on the drive side so i dont think you could fit a cutout there. The fuel lines are right there too so that's probably not a good idea to expell ecess heat.
