Question Custom Exhaust Setup Questions

I was checking out the custom exhaust today. Has longtube headers, the four on each side, each dump into a separate big like 3" or 3 1/2" tube, these two then connect and go over the axle and dump into the Magnaflow muffler, which then splits into two separate 3" (I think) tubes. I don't think it has any cats and the tubing is pretty wide and with few curves heading out to the back. Is this the typical T/A exhaust setup you guys have on your car, or is your different? Is there anything wrong or unusual about this set up, or is it your run of the mill LT1 exhaust set up? Thanks. I'll post up some pics too.

Looks liek the factory set up that was on my car some have 1 cat and some have 2 cat converters on yours the drivers side cat would be part of the manifold and the pass side would have been where that big buldge is on the pass front floor board. Even though the factory exhaust has been replaced with after makrket parts it looks like it still has the same style routing as the 2 converter system

Is this the factory exhaust setup? If so, then why would someone go through all the trouble of basically recreating it without cats. Surely, there must be some benefits from the work they put in, or otherwise I doubt they would have done it.

There was no "factory" exhaust with long tube headers and a custom Y-pipe. No one recreated it. They replaced the stock manifolds with long tube headers, had to have a different Y-pipe fabricated. Appears it may be a full 3" Y-pipe.

Your 94 only had one cat when it left the factory. It was located under the passenger side floorboard ("bulge" as mentioned above), after the two branches of the Y-pipe joined together. Does not appear there is a cat installed on your current setup - another part that is not factory.

Can't see the diameter of the intermediate pipe, but at the muffler, appears to be larger than the stock 2-3/4". Muffler looks too highly polished to be the factory part. Tips are obviously different.

As I mentioned in another thread where you asked a similar question - it is not unusual to upgrade to headers and a larger Y-pipe, then use a larger, better flowing catback (IM pipe plus muffler) with a 3.0, 3.5 or 4.0" IM pipe and muffler. As I noted, I've seen systems like the Mufflex 4" catback support over 1,000 flywheel HP.

Looks like an early gen Magnaflow cat-back to me...I was looking at one of those about 6 yrs ago when they were under $300 believe it or not...

Only thing that concerns me is the welded headers to the y-pipe. Kinda screwed if you have to remove them someday. But if all is well I wouldn't mess with it- looks 'run of the mill' as you stated.

Yeah, it's a Magnaflow catback. Says Magnaflow on the tips. And they even welded the muffler on instead of using hangers. So yeah, if I ever want to modify the system or replace it will require cutting and I would likely replace the whole thing. But for now, it runs and sounds great. I was just wondering about it, since I've never had a car with custom exhaust. My Vic had the Police package dual exhaust, but this is different. Thanks for the help guys.
