Actually, to 99% of the people on this site it does. Dyno is the most direct way to show how much a heads/cam package increases power. Some of you hard core track guys may say the track is the proving ground...well its really not always the case. The track proves that you either have the ability to hook the power or you dont. You can predict if a car will have no bottom end and be sluggish or if its gonna burn the tires up down low by looking at the torque curve (flat tq curve versus peaky). My point is most people on this site are backyard mechanic types that want the power increase and may hit the track a couple times a year for fun. Having advertisers that list track times only doesnt really help a customer relate the potential to his vehicle because there are so many factors (gear, weight, suspension). Atleast with dyno numbers that are SAE corrected, there arent as many variables. A customer can say " hey, with a 52mm TB and LT's AI made 4xxrwhp with their stage 2 heads and custom cam". Atleast the customer knows that with the same bolt-ons as listed, that heads/cam package and a good tune he should be ball park to that number.

And for those that didnt undrstand my mph comment, of course an increase in mph will indicate an increase in power. My point was that most people on this site have a preconceived notion of mph (i.e. 300rwhp = 105-106mph in an M6 fbody)...when we know with the right setup it will be 5-6mph faster. This is because not alot of people have gutted out, full suspension, fast gear'd cars.

Personally, track #'s are all that matter to me.

I don't want to pick on you, and we ALL make mistakes (even me), but this is a prime example of how installation cost from a qualified shop would be far less than the headache you have now. I am sorry to hear it, and I hope your next attempt is sucessful.

SStrokerAce- How fast is your f-body, and what kind of set up do you have?
You wanna call me out? lol

Believe me what Javier did was a loose rocker, I have the cam back in the shop and the round divits in the lobes fit a roller wheel on the bottom of a lifter perfectly.

Well... ya. I want to know how you approached your personal car. Do you eat what you cook, or do you just throw things together for people and see where you are when the dust settles? I am not upset at all, hope you are cool on your end.
Messing arround with cars gets competative (I am sure you are aware). But it's all fun. It would be cool to get together and do a track/ street thing some time and check out eachothers workmanship. So if you are up for it let me know.

Just watched your video.. our cars look like they'd be a good run if that's still your setup? Once I get my **** together that is...

Re: Criticize my next setup...

And remember for those set on dyno numbers, they are just that, numbers...As I've had access to a dyno for a while now I see how easily they can be manipulated to inflate numbers only to have the car not perform as it should, based on those high numbers, at the track. My car made 400rwhp on a Dyno jet, 375 on a mustang and then with the help of 2 seconds of keyboard manipulation I was at 430 rwhp on the Mustang. I cannot stress enough how important it is to know the dyno and the operator...Ask questions about roller weights, etc...Your track mph is the best judge of hp, imho...

The PO'd comment was directed to any of the locals that read this, they dont understand how this bolt on car can our run a cammed LS1

And I like the Ai vs LE comparison, I am sure someone would be upset with the cars brought to the competition but it still would be fun!

Oh yeah, I just throw things together.

When my '64 GTO gets done with the first motor then we will see how that all goes. It's only a 620hp 365cube small block, nothing special, it's just a driver. The race motor is going to take some time to get done, you know slappin them together and all.

I really don't care about the competition as much anymore, I am more interested in tweaking things more and more. I would think of it as being competitive with myself.
