crankcase tube connector?
Re: crankcase tube connector?
Do you mean the plastic elbow that pushes into the grommet on the passenger side valve cover? Should be able to find a generic elbow in an auto parts store.
If you are getting oil in the throttle body, check the PCV valve. Check the vacuum line to the PCV valve. If the PCV system isn't working, pressure can build up in the crankcase, and it vents back though the line to the throttle body, entraining oil droplets on the way. If the PCV system is OK, check for excessive piston ring blowby. If the PCV system can't handle the volume of blowby, it's going to flow backwards to the throttle body. Also make sure the small baffle that covers the hole in the valve cover is still there.
It is also possible to find some oil in the top of the throttle body if you are spending a lot of time at WOT, where there is little or no vacuum to pull through the PCV valve.

Re: crankcase tube connector?
on a gm parts site its called a crankcase tube connector. i noticed there was oil in the tube that connects this to the throttle body and on the nipple of the throttle body so i figured oil was getting sucked in somehow.
I'm just curious if its bad to see oil going through this tube like it is. the reason i need a new connector is because i found my old one partly melted

Re: crankcase tube connector?
You don't want oil flowing backwards through that tube and into the throttle body. It builds up in the chamber on top of the throttle body, and starts dripping into the throttle body and flowing into the intake manifold. Oil getting sucked into the combustion chambers will effectively reduce the octane of the fuel, and can lead to detonation (spark knock).
Some people have replaced the elbow with a small filter made by Deutsch, to try and limit oil flow to the throttle body.
But the important thing to understand is that is isn't getting "sucked in" to the throttle body, its being blown into the throttle body by pressure buildup in the crankcase. The port that the hose connects to starts in front of the throttle blades, so it is not subjected to intake manifold vacuum.
