Crank question

I have a crank question..Are our lt1 cranks internally or externally balanced?..Is there a visable way to tell if unsure?I bought a Scat forged 383 stroker kit and I am not sure how the crank is balanced. It was bought off of Craigslist brand new in the box,it is a 1 piece rear seal..Just hoping I can use it in my 94 lt1 engine..

Re: Crank question

The crank can be balanced any way you like, internal or external, but it's up to the machine shop. NEVER assume the "kit" is balanced properly.

Re: Crank question

You can see if there is any mallory metal in the crank but that won't tell you how well it was balanced. IMO, spend the extra few bucks and have a machine shop balance the whole rotating assembly.

Re: Crank question

What was wrong with the answers you got when you asked this before?
