I was just hoping that the Crane kit was a drop in kit. I'll be running a CC503. I guess I will be getting a hold of a micrometer to measure for sure.

Although some may just "drop-in" spring kits, it's not recommended. For optimal performance the springs need to be set up at a specific height for the setup and springs you are running.

Anyone know what the installed height for the Crane dual valve springs should be with a CC503?

Whatever height gives you 125-140# seat and 300-330# open

Can anyone confirm that OEM valve seals/replacements will fit with the Crane dual springs? I tried searching. What size are they btw?

I had no problem with them. I don't recall the size as I did that work a few years ago. The Crane duals are decent springs and it is confidence inspiring to read that Mr. Elliott commented favorably about them in a post above.

I would set them up at 1.750" with the GM 847. The GM cam is a billet cam. The Comp CC 503 is a cast cam and you need to watch the spring pressure to make sure you do not get too much.

I would go 1.750" with the GM 847 cam or any billet cam. 150 lbs on seat and 380 lbs open will work with alot of cam and that is what you get at 1.750"

I use a Comp 4770-16 locator instead of the little shim that comes with that kit. I also use a different retainer/lock set up that allows for more valve to stick above the retainer so they work with SA rockers.

to all the questioned earlier...

while i am far from an expert and technical advice should be drawn from Lloyd, i will say that i DID use the 10308 kit with a 224/224 cam with 532/532 lift and i dropped the kit in straight out of the box. was worried about what i had read and how others told me to take the heads off, or get a valvespring heigh tool, etc. anyways, i used the "crappy" shims that come with the kit and never had a problem. i used factory replacement valveseals from Autozone with the kit as well and had no problems.

i did the cam swap, had the car tuned, raced it at the track multiple times, sprayed a 125 shot on it, drove it DAILY (even in the snow, haha) and NEVER had a problem. as i said, Lloyd's technical advice should never be turned down or ignored, but i figured i would give some personal experience on this. good luck to all
