crane 10308 kit

Is there any machining that needs to be done to run these springs?

yep, these work fine with no machine work and can handle a pretty big cam.

I now use these on my LE1 heads instead of the CM 612 springs.

Some thick alu rockers sometimes have problems with the large diameter retainer but Comp Pro mags work fine.

Great spring kit. Priced very well considering what they can handle. Cant beat keys, shims, retainers, and good dual coil springs for $150.

ill be running a 503 cam with 1.6 3/8 SA pro mag rockers, this crane kit and stock heads.....

with these shims, do you drop them in and then install the springs, retainers and locks or do you need to measure to see what size shims you need. is it basically a "bolt in" kit or will i have to figure out how much shimming needs to be done depending on each cylinder. i know my dad always takes his heads in to the machine shop and gets the springs matched with the cam along with the retainers, locks and gets them shimmed properly, but i wasnt sure if i could throw the kit on w/e any problems are calculating.

Your right, different shims might be needed. That's why you have to measure the installed height.

So what does the installed height have to be? Does the Crane kit (1308) come with shims?

There is a tool that measures installed height of springs. You have to find out your installed height. Then based on what your spring preasure needs to be, you use different shims.
