Cooling system problems
Cooling system problems
For a couple days I've had the low coolant light intermittently. I checked the coolant level and it appeared ok. It runs pretty cool considering the 100+ temps here lately. This morning I drove a short distance and the guage started to rapidly rise. I turned on my manual fans and it dropped slowly and then would quickly move up and down. I stopped in a parking lot and felt the radiator. It seemed cool so I opened the cap. I got antifeeze everywhere. It wasn't real hot though. Just alot of pressure. I have it at home now to check it out. I'll start with cleaning the level sensor since the coolant level is low enough to pull it. Then to check or just replace the t-stat. Anyone else had problems like this that just suddenly happens?
Re: Cooling system problems
My car started overheating after I put in a new radiator. I traced it to a bad coolant temp sensor. After I replaced that my fans started coming on again and it was running at a good temp. After about a week my fans quit working again and I can't figure it out. But I am going to rig up a manual fan switch for the time being.
Re: Cooling system problems
I replaced the thermostat and monitored it on a scanner and it seems to be ok now. It's blazing hot outside and I can keep the temp at 190 so that's ok in my book.
