Cooling system help after opti change

I have a 95 Z28 and had to swap out my opti. I put everything back together and filled the radiator with coolant, then started it up. The temp went up to almost the red zone and I shut it down. I let it cool down and once it did the hose on the passenger side was collapsed. I pulled the cap off and put more coolant in the car and did the same thing with same results. I didn't bleed the air, could that be the problem? I thought I could just do it like the old cars, but I guess it works different. Any info for me?

Yes, that is the problem. There is a specific fill procedure.

My car only has one blessed screw, guess the guy I bought the car from remove that other hose. Any other area I should open to help bleed off the air? I had read that you can bleed air from the TB bypass hose, is that correct?

How are you going to bleed air from a hose that has no bleed screw? Just use what you have.
