Angry Cooling Problems are Back....damn it...

Okay, about a month ago, my '95 z28 started to get very hot, so i had it checked out and found a bad relay for the fans. so i changed that and everything worked fine. but about 2 days ago the car heated up again. so i checked the fans again and they do turn on, but only when the air is on. as soon as you turn the a/c off in the car, all the cooling fans shut off. as long as the a/c is on i'm fine. but i know this isnt right and i dont have a clue what the problem could be. the code readers say nothing is wrong but i have my doubts. anyone with suggestions please hand them over because i am getting really frustrated.

Might want to mention the conditions under which it gets "very hot".... at idle, in traffic, low speed cruise, highway driving, etc. And exactly what temperatures are "very hot"?

Have you verified the temperature indicated in the PCM vs. the temperature on the gauge? Might show if either the sensor for the gauge or the one for the PCM is faulty. The fans don't come on until 226degF (low speed or 1st fan) and 235degF (high speed or 2nd fan).

the temp keeps climbing until its in the red zone at the top of the gauge. yeah i know about when the fans should start, but they dont turn on at all unless the air is turned on. if the air is on the cooling system works fine.

I had the same problem with my 96. I replaced all of the relays and still nothing. It ended up beeing the temp sender in the water pump. I would advise that you replace the sender in the pump and the block for the gauge. SLP makes a fan switch so you can turn your fans on anytime you want. I think it costs about 80 dollars. Good luck!

You can do it yourself for a LOT cheaper if you are willing to a little wire splicing..
