cooling problem

Hi there everybody.I'm just wondering if it's okay to run the LT1 at 200f with fan 1 on all the time.I thought the fans only came on at 225f but it's coming on at 200f.I have a 195 degree thermostat in there now for the winter.I guess the question is will the fan burn out running all the time and is it safe to be running at 200f.Thanks.

yeah mine is programmed to come on at 185 and the 2nd at 200 i think, w/ the 160 stat. so my #1 is probably running most of the time at speeds under 50 or whatever speed that is when the sensor turns it off with enough air flow

I would not run anything higher than the stock 180° thermostat. Stock fans come on a 226°. There is no reason to have the fans run all the time. You are just creating more drag on the engine with the alternator having to produce the power to run them.

The 180 will produce plenty of heat at 40F. We've been down around 0 a couple days, and my car had plenty of heat with the 180.

Yes it works just fine at ALL outside ambient temperatures. That's why GM selected it as the stock t'stat rating. Remember, the LT1 uses the unique "reverse flow" cooling system, resulting in the need for a lower t'stat rating. I run a 160*F t'stat, and get all the heat I need, even when temperatures approach 0*F.
