Question cooling fan problem

Ok, my SES light came on yesterday and when it came on it turned on the high speed fans. Could it be a fan relay switch going bad or what? By the way, the way i know that the high speed fans came on is because i have a manual fan switch and both of the lights came on. This does not happen all of the time, just some times. Thanks.

I would scan your car to determine the problem.

I had the same problem and it took me a while to figure it out. It ended up being that when I installed my manual fan switch I took out the fuse for the A.I.R. pump. I guess the computer checks for it unless you have it removed from the computer. I put the fuse back in and the problem was fixed.

The fans are designed to come on when the SES does. That's normal.
Since you have a 1993, you can check to see what the code is that is causing the SES. No scanner needed.

The IAT is in the intake elbow. Maybe you unplugged it. Most people seafoam via a vacuum hose, so the seafoam should not have caused the problem.
If you need to test the IAT, here are some instructions. Read through the whole thing. References to the IAT are at the end.
