Coolant temp sensor connector

I have a 94z and I noticed that the connector for the coolant sensor along with the sensor was damaged during the removal of the exhaust manifolds. I noticed that my connector only has one wire , is that correct or should it be two wires .

Thanks

Re: Coolant temp sensor connector

You have 2 coolant temp sensors - 1 in the driver's side head for the dash gauge (1 wire); and 1 on the water pump housing for the PCM (2 wire).

Re: Coolant temp sensor connector

Appreciate the info. Thank you. Are the sensors the same, need to order one along with a new connector. Also I wanted to ask another question to you., I am installing shortys pacesetters , do you know if I can get a straight pipe already fitted to fit the end of the y pipe to the remaining exhaust, bypassing the cat.thanks again

Re: Coolant temp sensor connector

No. One is a 1-wire sensor that grounds through the threads in the head. The other is a 2-wire sensor that requires a separate ground wire from the PCM.

Shoebox has part #'s for the sensors, and the pigtails:

1993-1997 F-Body Part Number Collection

The shorty Pacesetters should include a Y-pipe that ends in the stock location, ready to connect to the cat, or whatever you have replaced the cat with. Normally, if you are still running a cat it is a welded connection. Yours will depend on what is on the end of the "off road pipe" that replaced the cat.

No, the sensors and connectors are not the same. I recommend you buy only the ACDelco sensor(s).
