coolant temp sending unit
coolant temp sending unit
I broke it while changing plugs, bought a new one and installed with minimal coolant loss. Now the gauge jumps from time to time like there is air in there but I've bleed it a couple times via bleeder and left the cap off while running for a bit
. Any suggestions? Thanks

Re: coolant temp sending unit
Got off track a bit but still need to know how to rid my air pocket. Will it clear out over time while driving?
Will it affect my temp sensor that the pcm reads and cause problems? I dont think its big enough to hurt the water pump or anything but it definatly makes my gauge jump up and down

and yes, if it is a air pocket(probably is) it can effect the ECT for the PCM
just keep trying to bleed it
have you let ity get cold, open the cap and bleeders, then start it ?, close the bleeders when coolant comes out, leave the cap off till thew t-stat opens

Re: coolant temp sending unit
Thanks, will keep trying
Oh yeah to the guys that don't read well. read it again
maybe I did make it confusing
Yes it was the "coolant temp sending unit" for the gauge.
And when I was talking about the PCM I was meaning the air bubble making its way there..........Thanks again

Re: coolant temp sending unit
Sometimes it helps when bleeding our cars, to remove the thermostat housing and fill with water first (being extremely careful of the Opti and H20 dont mix issue), put it back on, then re bleed again and again and again. Then bleed it more for a 10 minutes past the time you see no more bubbles. Not being sarcastic either. Next day you still might get your low coolant light.

Problem fixed
I wasn't air. I was checking the wire and it was fine so for kicks I used a little flat screwdriver to scrape out the connecter and I also bent the prong a bit to insure a connection and has been fine ever since.
