Coolant flush question

Is there any special way to do a coolant flush on an LT1 due to the reverse flow. Also how do i flush my heater core.
Thanks

When I flushed my coolant, I just used the Prestone coolant flush they sell at Walmart and followed the instructions. The only way different from the other engines is how you bleed the air out after you're done. This is done through 2 bleeders and the detailed procedure can be found here.

To flush the heater core, you can just disconnect both of its hoses and run water from a garden hose through the top one, until clean water comes out of the bottom hose.

PS. The transmission cooler I bought from you is bad. It has been leaking somewhere from the body of the cooler itself.

Heater core: Remove the two hoses going into the firewall on the passenger side(heater core hoses). Then put a hose(or compressed air) up to a hole and let it shoot gunk out of the other hole. Then reverse this process many times. Do it till its clear liquid coming out. I used a hose.

Flush: Same way...but to do a full flush you need to remove two block plugs.
Go here http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech1.html
On the top right hand side under "How to's" click on Coolant Drain and Refill.

You can still do a flush if you dont take out the block plugs, but its jes really gonna flush out your radiator, not the whole thing. You must remove all the plugs to do a FULL flush.

EDIT: oh well, I got beat to it....

Yes, but I forgot about the plugs. The plug on the passenger side is the knock sensor and on the driver side is just a bolt....

May have been a factory defect, not sure. I've taken it out twice already. The fittings and hoses are dry and clean but the body and the radiator is a mess from leaking fluid. It drips a couple of times per second, the leak is that bad. Last time I took it out, I checked if maybe I damaged it during the first install and there wasn't even a scratch on it.

I'll try B&M and let you know.

Pulling the block drains is a PITA and not necessary in my opinion. Drain the radiator first. Pull the thermo, put a bead of RTV on the mating surfaces and re-install the thermo housing without the thermo. Buy one of those Prestone radiator flush kits containing the T fitting and the radiator neck tube. Install those as directed. Start the engine, turn on the water and let it run clear. This will flush everything, block, radiator, & heater core. Drain radiator, take out T fitting, reinstall thermo, refill rad with 100% coolant, bleed system, etc. The mix will be close enough to 50/50 to be fine.
